At approximately 8:15 p.m. on Jan. 23, 2018, officers of the Morgantown Police Department spotted a red Ford Taurus running the red light at the intersection of Spruce and Pleasant Streets. Officers conducted a traffic stop in front of the Police Station. The driver of the vehicle denied having possession of a drivers license at the time of the stop and provided the officer with a fictitious name.

The investigation continued and, as a result, officers discovered heroin, a 9mm pistol with an obliterated serial number, and more than $4,000 of U.S. currency, which were seized.

The driver of the vehicle was subsequently identified as Asim Kahlaid MACK Jr., 22 years-of-age, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. MACK was confirmed to have been convicted of felony charges previously in Pennsylvania. MACK is currently being held pending arraignment for Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Controlled Substances and Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person.
