[ARCHIVED] Florida Man Arrested in Deer Poaching Case

On Jan. 5 at approximately 1 a.m., officers from the Morgantown Police Department were dispatched to Augusta Avenue in regards to suspicious activity in the woods behind a residence. Upon arrival, officers discovered a white-tailed deer carcass that had recently been field-dressed. The officers were then able to follow footprints in the snow to a residence on Augusta Avenue where they made contact with Jason Herbert Berk, 18, of Boynton Beach, FL. Further investigation revealed that Berk shot the deer with a compound bow earlier in the night from the front porch of the residence on Augusta Avenue. Berk was later charged with Hunting Out of Season, Using an Artificial Light While Hunting and Unlawful Possession of Wildlife.
