Update 5:14 p.m. 9/24/2020:

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The Morgantown Police Department obtained a warrant for the arrest of Michael Corney in relation to the shooting death of Chadwick Malone on Wednesday, Sept. 23. Below is a photograph of Mr. Corney. The Morgantown Police Department is currently attempting to locate Mr. Corney. He is believed to be from the Pittsburgh area, but frequents Morgantown. If you see Corney or know of his location please call 911 or notify the Morgantown Police Department by calling 304-284-7552 ext. 0.

Update 3:13 p.m. 9/24/2020:

The victim of the shooting that happened yesterday afternoon near the intersection of Pennsylvania Avenue and Pietro Street has been identified as Chadwick Jamuel Malone, 31 years of age from Morgantown. Mr. Malone was pronounced deceased at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital yesterday as a result of gunshot wounds to the chest and abdomen. The case is actively being investigated. A suspect has been identified and detectives are currently attempting to locate the suspect.

Original 9/23/2020:

At approximately 2:47 p.m. on Sept. 23, officers of the Morgantown Police Department responded to a report of shots fired near the intersection of Pennsylvania Avenue and Pietro Street.

Upon arrival, officers observed a male lying on the sidewalk in front of 325 Pennsylvania Avenue with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the chest. The male was unresponsive but had a pulse. First responding officers administered first aid to the individual until arrival of EMS personnel. The individual was transported to Ruby Memorial Hospital.

Officers are attempting to locate a silver colored Infiniti G35 in connection with the shooting. If you encounter a vehicle matching this description please contact 911, do not approach or make contact with the driver.
