At 12:17 a.m. on Sept. 2, the Morgantown Fire Department was alerted to a report of a structure fire at 125 Park Street, Apartment B, located in the South Park neighborhood of Morgantown.
The initial call stated that there was a fire in the bathroom of the residence. Occupants of the residence were advised by MECCA Operators to evacuate the building. Fans were used to remove residual smoke from the building.
The cause of the fire was determined to be an electrical short in the light and fan unit. Damage to the building was estimated to be $15,000. The structure is owned by Scott Batt of Morgantown.
