[ARCHIVED] Morgantown Parking Authority Begins Installing Smart Card Parking Meters

A graphic showing that the article is a news release.

Over the next few weeks, the Morgantown Parking Authority will replace 510 parking meters throughout downtown Morgantown. The updated meters will feature a new Smart Card payment option.

“The new software in the updated parking meters will allow individuals to load money onto a card at our office to use at the meter,” said Morgantown Parking Authority Director Dana McKenzie. “This way, people will spend less time searching for change in their cars and more time doing what they came downtown to do.”

These new reusable Smart Cards will allow customers to load a dollar amount, up to $100, to use at the meters. Smart Cards can be purchased and loaded at the MPA office. The new meters will only accept Smart Cards and do not accept credit cards. Customers will still be able to use coins or the ParkMobile app at all metered spaces.
