[ARCHIVED] City of Morgantown Launches Interactive Zoning Map

News Release Graphic

The City of Morgantown has launched a new interactive zoning map that will host new features and improve usability.

The zoning map is primarily used by property owners, realtors, developers and contractors. Developed by City of Morgantown GIS Analyst Marvin Davis, this interactive zoning map allows individuals to find the zoning district, tax district and permitted land uses of a parcel by simply entering in an address. The new interactive map is available on the Development Services Department page of the city’s website.

“The new interactive zoning map will make access to zoning information more convenient for users and decrease the steps to obtaining information,” said Director of Development Services Chris Fletcher.

“This is the first step toward improving the public’s interaction with the Development Services Department from a digital standpoint.”

This interactive zoning map is the first of many GIS related projects that the city plans to roll-out over the next year. The eventual landing site for these projects will be known as the City of Morgantown GeoHub, which is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2020. The GeoHub site will provide access to zoning maps, conditional uses, variances, and much more in order to provide transparency and support the open data initiative.
