[ARCHIVED] Morgantown Police Respond to Report of Individual with Handgun

At approximately 9:00 a.m. on Feb. 13, officers of the Morgantown Police Department responded to a report of an armed person barricaded inside of a vehicle in the parking lot of Ruby Memorial Hospital.

Officers arrived on scene to find a 30-year-old male subject reported to be in mental distress, armed with a handgun in a locked vehicle. Officers and hospital security personnel evacuated the surrounding area. Officers were able to contact the individual and establish a dialogue. Following a discussion with the officers, the individual consented to go with medical personnel for evaluation.

As a result of the incident, officers have seized a rifle and a handgun. There were no injuries, and no arrests are currently pending.
