[ARCHIVED] Morgantown Police Respond to Vehicle-Pedestrian Accident

At approximately 1:21 p.m. on Nov. 5, officers of the Morgantown Police Department responded to a report of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle near the intersection of Listravia Avenue and Route 7. As officers were responding to the scene, additional information was provided that the pedestrian was trapped under the vehicle.

Morgantown Police, Morgantown Fire and Mon EMS all arrived on scene and began to provide immediate medical attention. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Preliminary investigation indicates that a 2000 International 4700 was backing east on Listravia Avenue in order to make a delivery. At some point the pedestrian walked behind the vehicle and was not observed by the operator of the vehicle. The vehicle struck the pedestrian and continued backing over the pedestrian.

The pedestrian has been identified as Kayla Carder, 34 years of age of Morgantown. This case is in the early stages of investigation and this is all the information that is currently available.
