[ARCHIVED] City of Morgantown to Celebrate Arbor Day

News Release Graphic

The City of Morgantown is celebrating Arbor Day on Saturday, Oct. 19. At 9 a.m., the Morgantown Tree Board will hold a proclamation reading at the Farmers Market in recognition of Arbor Day.

Following the proclamation reading, the group will travel to Green Street in the Greenmont neighborhood to plant two trees; one Scarlet Oak and one Red Sunset Maple. The trees were provided through a grant from Mon Power Tree Line USA. They mark the 22nd year Morgantown has been named a “Tree City USA.”

The public is welcome to attend the proclamation reading and to assist in the tree planting. For more information about Tree City USA and Arbor Day, visit www.arborday.org.
