[ARCHIVED] Suspect Arrested Following Shooting Investigation

At approximately 9:45 a.m. on July 30, 2019, officers of the Morgantown Police Department responded to a report of shots fired at 420 Pennsylvania Avenue. Officers arrived on scene as individuals were fleeing the area. Several people were detained, identified and interviewed in the area as well as officers speaking to residents and witnesses of the incident.

Detectives were summoned to process the scene. Detectives found that a handgun was discharged inside of 420 Pennsylvania Avenue and recovered evidence from the scene.

Officers were able to identify a suspect and detectives located him at 201 Wagner Road.  Officers were able to take the suspect into custody where he was transported without incident to the Morgantown Police Department for booking. Detectives continued the investigation and recovered 2 handguns, ammunition, suspected methamphetamine and suspected cocaine.

Sheldon Maurise JACKSON, 35 years of age of West Columbia, South Carolina was charged with Wanton Endangerment and is currently being held at the North Central Regional Jail under a $100,000 secured bond.
