[ARCHIVED] Morgantown Fire Department Responds to Fire on Forest Avenue

At approximately 7:42 a.m. on Sunday, July 28, the Morgantown Fire Department was dispatched to a confirmed structure fire at 485 Forest Avenue. The initial engine company observed heavy fire and smoke venting from the building and called for a 2nd Alarm response.

Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control within approximately 45 minutes. The fire caused severe roof and structural damage estimated at $125,000. The building is owned by Jewelman Rentals LLC and was vacant. There were indications found that unauthorized persons may have been living or squatting in the building. There were no injuries to civilians or firefighters. The State Fire Marshal has been called in to investigate the cause of the fire.
