[ARCHIVED] Traffic Pattern Changes for MountainFest Parade of Bikes

MORGANTOWN, W.VA. - The Morgantown Police Department will alter traffic patterns on Saturday, July 27, for the MountainFest Parade of Bikes.

The parade will take place at 1 p.m. beginning with the motorcycle motorcade at the WVU Coliseum. The motorcade will travel south on Monongahela Boulevard towards downtown Morgantown, up Campus Drive and turn right onto University Avenue. The motorcade will then progress past the Mountainlair traveling towards High Street and will then follow the normal parade route down High Street.

Traffic near the Coliseum will be restricted beginning at 12 p.m. Traffic restrictions along the parade route will begin at 1 p.m. and conclude as soon as the motorcade and Color Guard pass through. Parking for automobiles will be restricted on High Street from 10 a.m. until approximately 4 p.m. Only motorcycles will be permitted to park on High Street during the parade.

Traffic in the downtown area will be restricted during the parade. Traffic will not be permitted to enter the downtown area during the parade by way of the Walnut Street Bridge or the Pleasant Street Bridge. Traffic traveling towards the downtown area on Willey Street will be detoured from Willey Street to Prospect Street and restricted at University Avenue and Willey Street. Motorists entering the downtown area from Beechurst Avenue will be delayed during the parade.

Traffic patterns will be returned to normal as soon as possible following the parade. Parade spectators are urged to arrive downtown early to allow ample time for parking. Parking will be available in downtown garages and metered lots.
