[ARCHIVED] Morgantown Police Searching for Large Python in Sabraton Area

News Release Logo v2

On Thursday, May 30 at approximately 10:48 p.m. officers of the Morgantown Police Department received a call about a large snake that escaped from a truck.

A male subject was transporting what is believed to be a 15-foot-long 4 inch in diameter python. During transport, the snake escaped its enclosure and was inside the vehicle. The owner then exited the vehicle and the snake escaped into the woods where it climbed a tree. Officers were unable to secure the snake.

The snake was last seen in a large tree next to Listravia Avenue just above the stop light beside the Sheetz.

Anyone who comes across the snake is asked to call 911 immediately. Residents are asked to pay close attention to children and small pets while outdoors. Additional information will be provided as it becomes available.
