[ARCHIVED] Suspect Arrested for Auto Tampering

On Saturday, Dec. 15, 2018, at 06:47 a.m., officers of the Morgantown Police Department, responded to a report of a person entering cars in the area of Jefferson Court. Officers spoke with a victim and identified a suspect in the case. Officers obtained warrants for the suspect and located him on Dec. 18, 2018 on the 200 block of Walnut Street.

Officers arrested Robert Lee WRIGHT, 64 years of age of Morgantown for auto tampering and attempted larceny. WRIGHT is held at the North Central Regional Jail pending arraignment.

This arrest was made possible by concerned citizens who reported suspicious activity to law enforcement immediately.

Citizens are reminded during this holiday season to continue to be vigilant and to lock their vehicles and ensure that no items of value are left in vehicles or in plain sight. Additionally, citizens are encouraged to record all serial numbers on their property. Serial numbers help assist law enforcement in identifying and recovering lost or stolen property.
