On June 17, 2018 at approximately 7:57 p.m. officers of the Morgantown Police Department responded to the Grafton Road Interstate overpass in reference to a female sitting on the edge of the overpass threatening to jump. As a precaution, both east and west bound traffic lanes of Interstate 68 were temporarily blocked to vehicle traffic along with the north bound lane of Grafton Road. Officers managed to convince the female to step away from the edge and escorted her to awaiting EMT personnel. The female was transported by EMS to Ruby Memorial Hospital where she will remain to be evaluated by medical personnel. The road closure lasted for approximately one hour.
The Morgantown Police Department would like to thank all emergency responders that assisted with this successful intervention.
