MESSAGE FROM THE CLERK'S OFFICE:
The 2025 ballot for the City of Morgantown includes elections for council seats in the second, fourth, and sixth wards. The candidates are Jodi Hollingshead for the Second Ward, Jenny Selin for the Fourth Ward, and Stephanie Hunt and Mark Downs for the Sixth Ward. A collective majority vote will determine the elected representative for each ward. All registered voters in the City of Morgantown are eligible to vote for candidates in all wards, regardless of their residential ward.
Additionally, there are two ballot initiatives.
The first initiative proposes a charter amendment that would allow City Council to approve the city manager residing outside the City while in office. A “YES” vote indicates support for this amendment, while a “NO” vote indicates opposition.
The second initiative addresses a referendum concerning Ordinance No. 2024–29, enacting a new Article 1157 of the City Code Entitled "Camping on Public Property," which involves a new City Code related to camping on public property. A “YES” vote would result in the removal of this ordinance from the City Code, whereas a “NO” vote would allow the ordinance to remain in effect and enforceable after 30 days has elapsed after a vote of the City on the ordinance.
