CORRECTION: City of Morgantown Hosting Giveaway of Surplus Materials on July 26

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The City of Morgantown's Engineering & Public Works Department will be hosting a giveaway of surplus materials on Saturday, July 26, 2025 from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the City Garage (located at 200 M-Tec Drive). This one-day-only event is an opportunity for community members to pick up free materials to help with repairs following recent storms and flooding.

Available materials include asphalt millings, mulch, firewood, dirt, and more. Millings will be limited to 10 tons per person.

This giveaway is strictly for personal use only. No tri-axle trucks or commercial vehicles will be permitted. Resale of these materials is prohibited.

"This is a great opportunity for residents to get the materials they need to repair and clean up their properties at no cost," said Deputy Director of Engineering & Public Works, Meagan Deeley. "We’re proud to offer these resources as part of our commitment to helping the community flourish."

This is the only day these materials will be available for pickup, so residents are encouraged to arrive early and bring proper hauling equipment.

Upon arrival, please check in at the white pop-up canopy outside the fence. Staff will direct you to the appropriate place.
