Republic Services to Adjust Pickup Times Amid City Paving Project

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - Due to the City of Morgantown’s contracted, annual paving project, Republic Services has coordinated with the City to adjust the hours of solid waste and recycling pickup in affected areas.

Anticipated paving activities began this week, and milling in the Suncrest Area will continue through Wednesday. Work is being completed on the following streets, in the following expected order:

Lakeland Ave, Meridan St, Civitan St, Pocahontas Ave, Milford St, Cypress St, Lashley St, Colonial Dr, Bellair Dr, Drummond St, and Koontz Ave.

The milling and cleaning crew will likely cover 3-4 of the above streets per day. Residents and visitors are advised to abide by posted parking restrictions or risk towing.

Once finished in Suncrest, crews will transition to the Wiles Hill, Highland Park, and Sunnyside neighborhoods. Further information about that portion of work will be released early next week.

Also starting next week, crews will begin prepping for curb ramp installation and/or replacement in the Woodburn and Jerome Park neighborhoods. They are expected to begin at the intersection of Ridgeway and Dayton and work their way towards Sabraton through the week.

Republic Services will still service affected areas on their regularly scheduled days, but crews will now arrive before road work begins for the day. Crews begin their work as early as 7 a.m. each weekday.

Residents are encouraged to leave their containers out and curbside the night before their designated service day, as Republic crews plan to arrive early for pickup.

This year's paving contractor is Parrotta Paving, a company with a longstanding history of work with the City. Please email engineering@morgantownwv.gov with any questions or concerns.

For more information about solid waste and recycling service, please contact Republic Services at (304) 366-8900.
