Student Move-Out To Begin May 1
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The City of Morgantown and Republic Services have announced that this year's student move-out period will range from May 1, 2023 to May 14, 2023.
Republic Services encourages students to donate (recycle) their belongings to the United Way via the WVU Blue & Gold Mine Sale. Gently used items like furniture, kitchenware, home décor, clothing, bedding, etc. can be donated.
Other items can be disposed of at the following collection containers:
Beverly Ave.: 1 – 30 yard container(s) Brockway Ave: 1 – 30 yard container(s)
Garrison St.: 2 – 30 yard container(s) Grant Ave.: 2 – 30 yard container(s)
McLane Ave.: 2 – 30 yard container(s) Willey St.: 3 – 30 yard container(s)
This collection program is solely intended for the WVU Students living in the University housing areas that have an active and fully paid account with MUB/Republic Services. This cleanup is not intended for student’s living in Commercial Dwellings and is not to be used by any landlords operating the Commercial Identified Housing. Violators will be fined $500 from the City of Morgantown.
Landlords are to make special arrangements for extra collections and will be charged for the extra service accordingly. If you live in Commercial Identified Housing and the dumpsters or roll-off boxes are full, please contact the property manager or landlord so they can arrange for the extra pickup.
Please DO NOT pile trash in front of or around any containers as this creates unsafe conditions and unnecessary delays for the containers to be removed or dumped. Special Instructions are listed below:
- LOADING CONTAINERS: All trash is to be placed inside the dumpsters and/or roll-off boxes and NOT stacked outside. If containers are full, the student should find another location or wait until the container is emptied;
- BLOCKING CONTAINERS: NO vehicle(s) are to park in front of or in the locations designated for the trash containers put on the street.
- CURBSIDE COLLECTION TRASH: You are encouraged to use the roll-off containers at the designated locations listed above. However, for any trash placed out for pickup at the residence, must be bagged and/or boxed. Trash will not be collected unless it is at the curb.
- UNACCEPTABLE WASTES FOR CURBSIDE COLLECTION: Carpet, tree limbs, construction material, car parts, batteries, air conditioners and refrigerators (unless tagged by a certified technician that the FREON was removed), paints, tires and other hazardous materials;
