City of Morgantown Collaborating with Republic Services for Earth Day Recycling Event
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The City of Morgantown will be partnering with Republic Services to host a single stream, electronic, and battery recycling event in honor of Earth Day. The event will take place on Saturday, April 22, 2023, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Mountaineer Transfer Station, which is located in the industrial park across the river at 2130 Rail Street in Westover.
The event will essentially combine three recycling events into one. It will be an opportunity for residents to dispose of common recyclables and hard-to-recycle items such as batteries and electronics, including CRT (cathode-ray tube) televisions.
The event will be open to City residents only, and participants must show proof of residency upon arrival. Recycling items at the event will come at no cost to those who participate.
"Not everyone has access to curbside or electronics recycling, and there is no place in Mon County to recycle alkaline batteries," said Special Projects Coordinator, Vanessa Reaves. "This event creates an opportunity for city residents to recycle a wide variety of everyday items in one place."
In addition to the aforementioned three-in-one recycling event, the City of Morgantown has also planned an Earth Day litter clean-up along Don Knotts Blvd. and Caperton Trail. Those who wish to participate in the clean-up are advised to meet at Heritage Park at 9 a.m. on April 22, 2023.
