A summary of the proceedings from the Morgantown City Council meeting on August 2nd, 2022. IMPORTANT NOTE: Due to upcoming renovations at Morgantown City Hall, all Morgantown City Council meetings will be held in Monongalia County Commission Chambers located on the second floor of the Monongalia County Building at 243 High Street.Action Items: - REVISING THE CITY'S 2022-2023 ANNUAL BUDGET: At the recommendation of the Finance Director, these ordinances would revise the city's 2022-2023 Annual Budget for the General Fund and Coal Severance Fund to account for carryover funds from the previous fiscal year in the amount of $3,386,000 for the General Fund and $85,000 for the Coal Severance Fund. Portions of the General Fund carryover will be placed in the Contingency Fund, city employee pension fund, and $539,000 to BOPARC for its capital projects. All of the $85,000 carryover for the Coal Severance Fund will go to BOPARC.

Second Reading.- AUTHORIZATION OF FEDERAL AVIATION ADMINISTRATION (FAA) GRANT: At the recommendation of the Airport Director, this agreement would provide the City of Morgantown with grant funding from the FAA Airport Improvement Program in the amount of $350,142. The City of Morgantown will match the grant funding in the amount of $18,429, while the state of West Virginia contributes $9,214.
Passed 5-0.- APPROVAL OF FAIRS & FESTIVALS PERMIT FOR KIP MOORE: The approval of this permit would authorize vendors to distribute alcoholic beverages at Ruby Amphitheater during the Kip Moore concert on September 23, 2022.
Passed 5-0.- REVIEWING RECOMMENDATIONS TO DENY ZONING RECLASSIFICATIONS: The Planning Commission has asked City Council to consider its formal recommendation to deny a petition requesting district reclassification of 815 Price Street and 305 Glendon Avenue from R1-A to R2 residences. The authorization of this petition would alter the zoning of both addresses from single-family to multi-family districts.
