ENHANCING CURRENT EVENTS AND ENCOURAGING THE DEVELOPMENT OF NEW EVENTS IN MORGANTOWN: Visit Mountaineer Country President and CEO, Susan Riddle will provide council with an overview of the Morgantown Event Advancement Fund. The MEAF was created to attract events to the downtown area in the City of Morgantown. The goal of the fund is to stimulate events and attract people to the downtown area. The program will provide grant funding to approved applicants that hold events in the downtown area. This program is funded with American Rescue Plan Act funds. Specifically, this program falls under the City Promotions goal in the city's ARPA Action Plan.
REVISING CERTAIN FUNCTIONS OF THE CIVILIAN POLICE REVIEW AND ADVISORY BOARD: At the recommendation of the City Attorney, this ordinance would revise the Ordinance 2021-13 which established a Civilian Police Review and Advisory Board and recodify it as Article 178 of the City Code. The changes to the board include invalidating the complaint and investigative functions of the Civilian Police Review and Advisory Board. This would leave in place other functions of the board such as reviewing policies, making recommendations, and doing community outreach. The changes were the result of an agreed order which was passed by council at its May 16 regular meeting.
