Morgantown Police Respond to Shooting Incident

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - Shortly after 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 3, officers from the Morgantown Police Department were dispatched to a domestic dispute at 18 Van Gilder Street. While responding officers were notified that shots had been fired and that a male victim had been shot.
When officers arrived on the scene they located the victim who had a gunshot wound to his upper torso. The victim was identified as Matthew Vaughn, 32 years-of-age of Charleston, WV. Emergency Medical personnel were on scene to provide treatment, but Vaughn succumbed to the gunshot wound and was pronounced dead while on scene.
The suspect in the shooting has been identified as Tracey Hamby, 47 years-of-age of Beckley, WV. Hamby was arrested and has been charged with 2nd degree murder for the shooting of Vaughn. Hamby was arraigned in Monongalia County Magistrate Court this morning, March 4, and will be held without bond at the North Central Regional Jail.

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - Shortly after 5:00 p.m. this afternoon, officers from the Morgantown Police Department responded to a reported shooting at 18 Van Gilder Street.
Officers arrived and found that an adult male victim had been shot and died on scene. Officers identified a suspect in the shooting and that individual is currently being questioned by detectives.
