Next Art at the Airport Exhibition Highlight's Destinations
Opening reception will be held Jan. 19MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The theme for the third Art at the Airport exhibition is Destinations. Local artists will display artwork that represents the places they have visited or imagined.
“We think it’s a very appropriate theme for an art exhibit that’s shown in an airport” said Susan Dotson, curator for the Art at the Airport Program.
The Art at the Airport program is a partnership between the City of Morgantown, Morgantown Art Association, and the Morgantown Municipal Airport. The program presents work from local artists in quarterly exhibitions in the airport terminal at the gate and baggage claim areas. The Morgantown Art Association coordinates artist selection and rotating the exhibitions throughout the year.
“It’s great that we can support local artists and provide a space where they can showcase and sell their artwork while enhancing the airport experience for travelers," said Vincent Kitch, director of Arts & Cultural Development for the City of Morgantown. "A number of pieces from our first two exhibits have sold and Art and the Airport has been a great success.”
An opening reception with the artists is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 19. The public is invited to attend the opening reception. Masks are required while inside the airport.
