Morgantown Fire Department Responds to Fire at University Avenue Residence
MORGANTOWN, W.VA. - At approximately 11:22 p.m. on Dec. 12, the Morgantown Fire Department responded to a small smoldering fire in an apartment building located at 2725 University Avenue.
The building owner partially extinguished the fire with an extinguisher after hearing a smoke alarm and gaining entry. Firefighters arrived to find light smoke within the apartment and finished extinguishing the fire.
The fire caused an estimated $25,000 in damages. There were no injuries to firefighters, and the apartment occupant had left for work prior to the fire. Morgantown Fire Marshals have determined the fire was caused by spontaneous ignition of recently laundered clothing items.
