Action Items:
- REVISING THE CITY'S 2021-2022 ANNUAL BUDGET FOR THE GENERAL FUND
This
ordinance approved the revision of the City's 2021 -2022 Annual Budget for the General Fund in the amount of $176,654. The revision to the General Fund accounts for increased costs associated with the city's web service provider ($552), costs associated with the AT&T mobility bill for the Morgantown Fire Department ($4,950), and various invoices for the Morgantown Police Department ($171,152). Funds from the Contingency Fund will be used for the General Fund revision.
Second Reading. Passed 7-0.- AUTHORIZING REPAIRS TO THE PUBLIC SAFETY BUILDING
At the recommendation of the Public Works & Engineering Department, City Council considered
authorizing the purchase of a Kone elevator and associated equipment for the Public Safety Building at a cost of $183,495. The current elevator is inoperable and replacement parts are obsolete. The elevator is in need of full replacement.
Passed 7-0.- REVIEWING A FAIR & FESTIVAL PERMIT
At the
request of the permit applicant, the WVU MBA Class of 2022 is seeking approval of a Fair and Festival permit for a 5K fundraiser for the Ronald McDonald House on October 14 from 3-6 p.m. at the Ruby Amphitheater.
Passed 7-0.- PROHIBITING CONVERSION THERAPY IN MORGANTOWN
At the recommendation of the Morgantown Human Rights Commission, Council will consider approval of an
ordinance that would prohibit the practice of conversion therapy with a minor under the age of 18 by any medical or mental health professional in city limits.
First Reading. Passed 7-0.- WORKING WITH THE STATE DIVISION OF HIGHWAYS IN PREPARATION FOR THE REALIGNMENT OF CAMPUS DRIVE
At the request of the West Virginia Division of Highways, Council will consider entering into
agreements with the WVDOH for its project to realign Campus Drive into a T-intersection and for the maintenance of sidewalks along Beechurst Avenue following completion of the project.
No action taken.- REQUIRING FACE COVERINGS FOR ALL IN-PERSON CITY PUBLIC MEETINGS TO LIMIT THE SPREAD OF COVID-19
Council approved of a
resolution requiring face coverings be worn by all participants and attendees of all public, in-person meetings of the Morgantown City Council and city boards and commissions. Exemptions include children under the age of five years old; persons with a medical condition, mental health condition, or disability that prevents wearing a face covering, including persons with a medical condition for whom wearing a face covering could obstruct breathing or who are unconscious, incapacitated, or otherwise unable to remove a face covering without
assistance; and those addressing council or a board or commission.Passed 7-0.
