MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The City of Morgantown's 2021 Paving Plan is in full swing. Milling and paving will take place on the following streets over the next week:
McLane Avenue from Sixth Street to the Dead End
Prairie Avenue from Wagner Road to Wilson Avenue
Milled on Monday, Aug. 9 and Tuesday, Aug 10
Paved on Wednesday, Aug 11
Wilson Avenue from Jefferson Street to Jefferson Street
Milled on Tuesday, Aug. 10 and Wednesday, Aug. 11
Paved on Thursday, Aug. 12.
Park Street from Cobun Avenue to the Dead End
This schedule is subject to change and all work is weather dependent. Motorists can expect traffic delays, including detours, and/or lane closures while these roads are being paved.
The annual paving plan is funded through the Safe Streets & Safe Community Fee, also known as the Municipal Service Fee. It has allowed the city to greatly improve the maintenance and upkeep of city streets. The Safe Streets and Safe Community Service Fee is $3.00 each week for those working within city limits and $1.20 of that $3 weekly fee goes toward public right-of-way improvements, which includes paving and ADA improvements to sidewalks. A $854,162 bid from Anderson Excavating, LLC was approved by Morgantown City Council in June to complete the repaving of 4.3 miles of city streets and to install approximately 63 ADA ramps.
