Morgantown Police Respond to Shooting Incident


MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - At 2:15 a.m. on Wednesday, June 23, officers of the Morgantown Police Department were on patrol in the downtown area when they heard gunshots coming from the 200 block of Walnut Street.

Officers arrived on the scene within seconds, but witnesses stated that the parties involved in the shooting left the area – one group in a vehicle and a lone male on foot. Officers immediately located the vehicle involved and conducted a traffic stop on Beechurst Avenue. Inside the vehicle officers located a female that had a minor gunshot wound to her side. Officers rendered first aid to the female and contacted Mon EMS who responded and transported her to J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital.
