Morgantown Police Respond to Shooting Incident 


MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - At approximately 5:30 p.m. on June 15, officers of the Morgantown Police Department responded to a report of shots fired at 54 Kingwood Street.

Upon arrival, officers identified one male victim with a gunshot wound to the leg. First aid was administered to the individual on the scene. The victim was transported by the Monongalia County EMS to J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital. Witnesses on the scene provided officers with descriptions of three individuals seen fleeing from the area. Officers were able to locate those individuals and detained them for questions.

Demetrius Level Willis, a 38-year-old male from Ypsilanti, Michigan, was charged with Malicious Assault and transported to the Monongalia County holding facility without incident. A gun suspected to have been used in the shooting was recovered and placed into evidence.
