Morgantown City Council Regular Meeting Highlights:
IMPORTANT NOTE: To protect public health during the COVID-19 pandemic, personal attendance at the meeting is not permitted. This meeting will take place via WebEx at https://cityofmorgantown.my.webex.com/meet/cityofmorgantown using the meeting number 793 734 477. The meeting will be broadcast live on Morgantown 15 and live-streamed via the City of Morgantown website at https://morgantownwv.viebit.com/. - RECOGNIZING OUTGOING CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS
Mayor Ron Dulaney Jr., Deputy Mayor Rachel Fetty, Councilor Barry Lee Wendel, Councilor Deb Bergen, and former councilor Zack Cruze will be recognized for their service to the citizens of the City of Morgantown. The June 15 meeting will serve as the final council meeting for these four council members.
- CREATING AN EMPLOYEE HANDBOOK FOR CITY EMPLOYEES
At the recommendation of the City Manager, this
ordinance would direct the City Manager to create an employee handbook following the direction laid out in this ordinance. The ordinance would also approve a formal grievance procedure and a diversity, equity and inclusion plan for the city. This will be the Second Reading.
First Reading was 6/1/2021.
- LEASING SPACE AT THE MORGANTOWN MUNICIPAL AIRPORT
At the recommendation of the Airport Director, this
ordinance would authorize a lease agreement between the city and Xerox for office space in the terminal building at the Morgantown Municipal Airport. The lease agreement is for three years and would end on May 31, 2024. This will be the second reading. First Reading was 6/1/2021.
- LEASING SPACE AT THE FORMER WOODBURN SCHOOL
At the recommendation of the City Manager, these ordinances would authorize lease agreements between the city and the Shack Neighborhood House and Mountaineer Homeschoolers Hub for space at the former Woodburn School. - CLARIFYING A SECTION OF THE PLANNING AND ZONING CODE
At the recommendation of the Development Services Director, this
ordinance would clarify the existing definition of an accessory structure and would remove the existing setback requirement of 10 feet.
- UPDATING SIGNATORIES FOR FINANCIAL TRANSACTIONS
This administrative
resolution would add new Finance Director Kevin Tennant and remove Financial Manager Amy Cobasky as signatories for financial and business transactions for the city.
- REVISING THE FY2020-2021 CAPTIAL ESCROW FUND BUDGET
At the recommendation of the City Manager, this
resolution would allocate $71,790 to the annual budget for the Capital Escrow Fund to account for utility relocation and window design at City Hall in the amount of $56,790 and repairs to the lighting, plaster, and painting at the former Woodburn School in the amount of $15,000 in preparation for the new tenants.
- REVIEWING THE 2021-2022 AIRPORT IMPROVEMENT FUND
At the recommendation of the Airport Director, this
resolution would approve the annual budget for the Morgantown Municipal Airport - Airport Improvement Fund. The amount requested is $10,716,274.
- REVIEWING A FAIR AND FESTIVAL PERMIT
At the request of the permit applicant, this
permit would authorize the controlled alcohol sales in parking lot of Gene's Beer Garden located at 461 Wilson Avenue for a John Lennon Tribute concert and fundraiser for Empty Bowls. The event would be from approximately 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.
- AWARDING THE BID FOR THE 2021 STREET PAVING PROJECT
At the recommendation of the City Engineer, this would award the
2021 Street Paving Project bid to Anderson Excavating, LLC in the amount $854,162. View more about the 2021 Street Paving Project including the paving list here.
