City of Morgantown Names New Director of Finance
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The City of Morgantown is pleased to announce that Kevin Tennant has been hired as the new Director of Finance. Tennant will start in the position on June 4.
“I am excited and thankful to city administration for this opportunity to serve,” said Tennant. “What really attracted me to the position was that it was something new and challenging. I’ve been in healthcare for the past 15 years or so and this was a great opportunity to expand my horizons and use my experience to serve a community that I care about.”
Tennant, a Certified Public Accountant, holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Accounting from Fairmont State University. He was selected out of pool of 25 candidates. Since 2008, Tennant has worked for Mon Health System, most recently as System Manager of Reimbursement. During his time in this role, Tennant was responsible for reimbursement which involved filing federal and state reports, compliance, and budgeting. While at Monongalia County General Hospital he gained extensive experience advising and assisting department managers in preparing operating expenses and staffing budgets.
“Kevin brings a wealth of knowledge to this position and we are eager to bring him on,” said City Manager Kim Haws. “His experience in budgeting and compliance will be invaluable to us and help ensure that we continue to be good stewards of public funds.”
