Committee of the Whole Meeting Highlights:


IMPORTANT NOTE: Committee of the Whole meetings of the Morgantown City Council are intended to provide an opportunity for the Council to receive information, ask questions, and identify policy options in an informal setting. No official action is taken at these meetings. 


Presentations:
  • HARM REDUCTION PROGRAMS
Health Right Executive Director Laura Jones with make a presentation to council regarding the benefits of harm reductions programs and why it is important to the Morgantown community.
  • MONONGALIA MORGANTOWN AREA GEOSPATIAL INFORMATION CONSORTIUM
Staff from the City of Morgantown, Monongalia County, and Morgantown Utility Board will make a presentation to council on the establishment of the Monongalia Morgantown Area Geospatial Information Consortium (MMAGIC). The purpose of the consortium is to coordinate GIS projects and operations among the participating organizations to avoid duplicating efforts, easily share data, and share the financial costs of projects that benefit all the agencies but are cost-prohibitive to be pursued by any one agency alone.
  • INDIGENOUS PEOPLE'S DAY RESOLUTION & PROGRAM
Member of the Morgantown Human Rights Commission will make a presentation to council about recognizing the second Monday in October as Indigenous People's Day rather than Columbus Day.

Items for Discussion:
  • SUPPORTING HARM REDUCTION PROGRAMS IN MORGANTOWN
Council will discuss a proposed letter of support for the Harm Reduction Programs provided by Milan Puskar Health Right.
  • COLLABORATING WITH LOCAL STAKEHOLDERS ON GIS INFORMATION
Council will discuss a proposed agreement with the Monongalia County Commission and the Morgantown Utility Board to create the Monongalia Morgantown Area Information Consortium (MMAGIC).
  • RECOGNIZING INDIGENOUS PEOPLE'S DAY 
Council will discuss a proposed resolution recognizing the second Monday in October as Indigenous People's Day rather than Columbus Day.
