Committee of the Whole Meeting Highlights:
IMPORTANT NOTE: Committee of the Whole meetings of the Morgantown City Council are intended to provide an opportunity for the Council to receive information, ask questions, and identify policy options in an informal setting. No official action is taken at these meetings.
Presentations:
Morgantown Utility Board General Manager Mike McNulty will make a presentation to council regarding MUB's stormwater management systems, and potential recreational opportunities at the Flegal Dam.
A representative from Fairness WV will make a presentation to council regarding conversion therapy. Conversion therapy refers to a controversial practice aimed at changing an individual's sexual orientation or gender identity.
Items for Discussion:
- PROHIBITING CONVERSION THERAPY IN MORGANTOWN
Council will discuss the inclusion of this
ordinance on an upcoming regular meeting agenda. This ordinance would prohibit the practice of conversion therapy with a minor under the age of 18 by any medical or mental health professional in city limits.
- COVID MITIGATION MEASURES FOR PUBLIC MEETINGS
Council will discuss its options to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 at public meetings held in city buildings. These options include mandating that masks be worn at all in person public meetings.
