Action Items:
 
  • APPOINTMENT TO THE PLANNING COMMISSION:
Tim Stranko was reappointed as the 2nd Ward representative to the Morgantown Planning Commission.

  • INCREASING PUBLIC ART IN DOWNTOWN MORGANTOWN:
At the recommendation of the City Manager, this resolution would allow the city to work with Main Street Morgantown to wrap the utility boxes downtown with vinyl wrap artwork. Upon approval, the city would submit an Art Within DOH Right-of-Way application to the West Virginia Division of Highways.

Passed 7-0.
  • CONTINUING IMPROVEMENTS TO THE OLD WOODBURN SCHOOL:
At the recommendation of the City Manager, the bid award for the Phase 2 project at the former Woodburn School should be awarded to Caliber Inc. in the amount of $297,000. Funding for the project comes from Community Development Block Grant funds. The project consists of accessibility improvements to the facility including two new bathrooms, a new hallway off the existing Reception Area to access the new bathrooms and a side door, demolition of two existing bathrooms to create a mechanical room and a new check-in room with a service counter opening into the entrance vestibule. Renovations also include associated mechanical, electrical and plumbing work.

City of Morgantown Municipal Election is April 27, 2021

The 2021 City of Morgantown Municipal Election is on April 27, 2021. In addition to electing city council members, voters will decide whether to extend council members terms from 2 year concurrent terms to 4 year staggered terms. For more information on the 2021 election please visit morgantownwv.gov/elections. A brief timeline is below:
  • Jan. 1 to Apr. 20 - Absentee Voting Applications Accepted
  • Jan. 4 to Feb. 8 - Candidate Filing Period
  • Mar. 2 - Drawing for Ballot Positions
  • Apr. 6 - Voter Registration Deadline
  • Apr. 14 - 24 - Early Voting
  • Apr. 27 - Election Day
