MORGANTOWN – Morgantown Parking Authority has partnered with Parkmobile, LLC to bring a more modern form of parking to the City.
In collaboration with Parkmobile, a parking payment provider, the City will be introducing a new way of paying for parking, done solely through mobile devices. Through the use of an app, customers will be able to pay for their parking sessions directly from their phones.
This changeover will impact single-space meters and certain open-air parking lots around the city, totaling approximately 900 spaces converted. Parking garages will remain the same, being unaffected by this implementation.
“The City is thrilled to bring another more convenient way to pay for parking to the people of Morgantown,” said Dana McKenzie, executive director of Parking Authority. “We think this new system will be a great addition for our community.”
Users can download the Parkmobile app for free on any iPhone, Android or Windows phone, or gain access through the company’s website. After enrolling, customers can pay for parking for their registered vehicle in Parkmobile verified spaces. Metered time can also be extended from the app if the time limit has not been reached.
Neighboring West Virginia University has employed this operation for over a year, bolstering a smoother transition for the rest of the city.
